Bio

This website is an internetified portfolio for my work in color grading, editing, and photography

If you’d direct your attention to the top of this page, you’ll find that my name is Jonah Shortall. If you peruse around, maybe do some clicking and looking here and there, you’d see that my media of choice are video and photo. The medium is the message. I’ve done both digitally, and have shot a fair share of analog 35mm photography.

My bread and butter is in manipulating color, and am currently working toward a career as a colorist for films, both short and feature length, as well as episodic. I believe in the superiority of DaVinci Resolve, though I can comfortably navigate Avid or Premiere Pro, and I’m eager to learn Baselight and Flame.

I love how a shift in color can completely change the impression we have of a scene or an image, and I love how certain combinations of color have the power to elicit specific emotions. It’s been a fun journey to figure out how to sculpt the color of my images to tell the stories I associate with them and share them with the internet. I believe that every still image holds a story within itself and I work to bring the story out of each image that passes through my hands.

Should you have a need for a colorist, editor, assist, or someone to troubleshoot a post-production workflow, you’d be doing yourself a favor by getting in contact with me. I’m looking forward to getting to work with you!
